Lisa, James & Baby

On Saturday at 17:34pm our daughter Beatrix was born in our birthing pool next to the fire, all as planned. We could simply could not have done it without you.

It was a positive birth, where my labour lasted 24 hours almost exactly. However in that time I slept (well snoozing and managing surges), I had zero pain relief and breathed my way through it all. I had only one very minor tear and the midwifes said I had it under control. No swearing either!! Unbelievably!!

I did have a wobble, as you said I might, as I transitioned into the final stages of labour, but I had no idea at the time that I was so far advanced. It was a compete shock when they examined me and they said that baby was ready to come out. James frantically filling the pool and lighting the fire and candles ha ha.

I did briefly end up in Calderdale at 6 am on  Saturday due to some blood loss but I managed my surges well, they didn’t stop. We played our favourite cd in the car, singing our way through it. The staff in the hospital were so respectful of my choice to practice hypnobirthing. I managed to get some tests and get back home as planned. We were so relieved.

We want to sincerely thank you for everything, to have a life long positive birth story is amazing. We are both at home with Bea enjoying every moment, rather than being in the hospital apart.
